The throttle is a mechanism which is used to flow fluids, through obstruction or construction. With the use of throttle, an engine’s power can be decreased or increased. A throttle body is an integral part of the air intake system. This system is used to control the amount of air that flows to the vehicle’s engine, when the driver presses down on the accelerator pedal. The body of the throttle is found in between the intake manifold and the air filter box. In most vehicles the throttle body is attached near, or onto the mass airflow sensor. The throttle plate is the largest piece in the throttle body, which acts as a butterfly valve; and is used to regulate airflow. The throttle valve housing in a gasoline/ petrol internal combustion engine; is directly used to adjust the amount of air that is entering the engine. The throttle valve housing indirectly controls the charge burn, on the cycle; which is created due to the carburetor or fuel injector. This system maintains a constant air + fuel ratio. Vehicles that feature a throttle, offer the driver the ability to open the throttle through the throttle pedal; this pedal is connected to the accelerator pedal.
