A vehicle door is a type of door, typically hinged, but sometimes attached by other mechanisms such as tracks, in front of an opening, and it is used for entering and exiting a vehicle. A vehicle door can be opened to provide access to the opening, or closed to secure it. These doors can be opened manually, or powered electronically. Powered doors are usually found on minivans, high-end cars, or modified cars. The doors can be one, two or more. The back door also known as rear doors are at the back of a vehicle. Moreover, rear passenger doors are frequently fitted with child safety locks to prevent children from exiting the vehicle unless the door is opened from the exterior.

Howbeit, there are two parts metal and plastic, which are supposed to move as one unit. If the unit is rotated anti-clockwise then the door lock will be in the locked position. If the door is rotated clockwise then the door would be in the unlocked position. In my case when trying to push the lock in to the unlocked position, something inside the faulty lock was causing it to spring back in to the locked position.

There are two handles in a door. The structure of interior handle differs from the structure of exterior handle.
